Consider Your Agenda or Daily To Do List a Good Friend

Before classes crank up and assignments roll in, do yourself a big favor – decide how you will keep track of your daily “to do” list. Then, treat your agenda or planner or to do list like you would a good friend.

Check in daily. Write down the assignments and check them off as you complete them. Circle assignments you haven’t done but need to do.

Keep it short but be specific about the assignments. Just writing “worksheet” or “read” won’t help you when you’re trying to figure out just why you missed turning in the work. Instead, write “Wksht 1.3 all” or “read 35-59 annotate.”

Your school might offer a planner that fits the need. Local stores, like Dollar General, Walgreens, and Family Dollar sell inexpensive basic planners. Or, take a look at these planner options:

If keeping track of a paper agenda hasn’t really worked for you in the past, consider The Homework App. The free version works great.

Remember, posting homework and other assignments in your planner lets you stay in charge of your time and work. It’s a positive way to keep from feeling overwhelmed or forgetting an assignment. You’ll be ready when classes start!
