STUDENT SKILLS WORKSHOP 2026
Through three personalized one-on-one Zoom sessions, students gain the clarity, structure, and confidence they need for a successful transition into high school. Rising eighth graders, freshmen, and sophomores receive direct, individualized instruction tailored to their academic goals and upcoming coursework. This workshop focuses on:
- Strengthening core reading comprehension and note taking and writing skills
- Using assigned summer reading to build comprehension and analytical thinking
- Practicing effective study habits
- Learning how to plan for projects and papers
The ultimate goal is to equip students with reliable, effective academic tools that actually work.
How It Works
We’ll schedule three virtual Zoom sessions across two weeks.
You choose your session time: 1 pm or 4 pm.
Each session includes access to shared Google Docs for real-time collaboration and notes. Prior to the first session, students receive a prep list and access to a Google Drive folder with all necessary materials.
Cost: $500 total
Session Length: 1.25 hours
Grade Range: Rising 8th – 10th

📘 “Making the Most of Summer Reading”
Learn how to annotate effectively, track characters and plot developments, and identify literary devices and themes.
✏️ “Just How Do I Know What to Write?” & “Grammar You Gotta’ Know”
Build writing confidence! Construct strong paragraphs and essays using evidence-based strategies. Learn essential sentence patterns, MLA rules, and how to blend quotes like a pro.
📒 “Getting Involved”
Become an active learner with 4 reliable study skills. We’ll explore note-taking methods and how to use a whiteboard for memory and recall.
📅 “My Time, My Work, My Plans”
Master the art of managing school life: build and stick to to-do lists, organize a study plan, and use calendars to stay on top of assignments.
