Establish a Routine that Works for You

Do you run out of enough time to finish your school work and studies? Or do you think you have plenty of time, but then you realize you don’t? You’re not alone. Most high school and college students struggle with time management. There’s a solution to finding a routine that works.

GET VISUAL!   Consider how you are using your time now:  When do you get home from school? When do you eat dinner? When do you begin working on your studies? When should you go to bed to get enough sleep?

  • Take a look at your current schedule  24 Hour Calculator
  • Be sure to plug in your sport practices, tutoring sessions, music and dance sessions, club and scout commitments, and time with friends

PRIORITIZE YOUR STUDIES   It’s important to estimate how much time you spend on homework in each subject. Add that time up. Then think about the time you need to study, too. Remember to capitalize on small bits of time – like that 1/2 hour before dinner when you could flip through flash cards or begin a reading assignment.

POST YOUR SCHEDULE in your study space as a reminder.  Let your routines work for you. Soon you’ll be able to estimate and plan for the time you need in each area of your life – family, school, sports, friends, and you.
